Education, Capacity Development & Life-Long Learning

A New Nigeria that Equips Every Woman and Girl with the Knowledge, Skills & Opportunities they need to Thrive and Contribute to Society is POssible!

The global economic recession and the gulf between job creation and the growth in the numbers of job seekers have worsened the employment situation for women and men alike. But women face greater vulnerabilities in the labour market because of their relative lack of education and training, the tendency to channel women into certain occupations, as well as the continuous heavy burdens of unpaid domestic work, childbearing and childcare, which restrict the time and energy available for income-earning activities.

Politically, Nigeria women are still a negligible and undermined force. Economically, they constitute the majority of the peasant labour force in the agricultural sector, while most of the others occupy the bottom of occupational ladders. Women continue to be channelled into service and domestic occupations. The consequence of these inequalities is evident in the high level of economic and political powerlessness among women, and powerlessness in turn retards development at political, social and economic levels.

Previous administrations have succeeded in articulating policies and programmes that seek to reduce gender in equalities in socio economic and political spheres, however, the success of bridging the inequality gap has continued to fall short.

Our nation is ready for a new phase of progress of every woman, we are ready for a time of deliberate national strategies geared towards women empowerment in every regard.
